Tenuta Matilde Zasso
Estate Matilde Zasso
is one of the largest and most interesting oenological realities of the Phlegraean area
A winery with a three-generation long wine tradition and the only one in Pozzuoli to produce the Doc wines of the Campi Flegrei. We are at the end of the 19th century, when the grandfather, Michele Vicidomini, inspired by love for his land and the charm of the great wines of the Phlegraean Fields, began his business at Monte di Procida, where he produces small quantities of wine for the family, using traditional processing methods and sells the wine in "quartaruli".

Special Selection
Inspired by the beauty of the sun, the moon and their union these wines are the highest expression of our winemaking. It is a Special Selection of wines made by grapes varieties pure and indigenous coming from all around the territory of Campania each of which has its own peculiarity
Falanghina

Falanghina wine owes its name to the Greek-Latin term "phalanx", that was a pole used to support the vine stocks, as the characteristic of Phlegraean viticulture is to have the grapevine connected to the pole. It is a vine that is born and thrives on volcanic soils.
Falanghina is nowadays one of the most valuable and appreciated DOC white wines of Campania.

Piedirosso

Piedirosso wine, also known as "Per'e Palummo" (pigeon foot), owes its name to the red stalk that recalls the color of the pigeons' paws.

Piedirosso is an exclusively growing in Campania vinegrape variety, and its origin is very ancient. It is the most widespread in the entire region and in particular in the volcanic areas of the province of Naples. Like Falanghina, it is one of the finest and most appreciated DOC red wines of the Phlegraean Fields.

"the piede palombo, still black grape, but rather sparse in the berries, the petioles of which are red like the feet of pigeons" 1804 Columella

Coda di volpe

Coda di volpe (Fox tail) is a typically Campanian grapevine and it can be found mainly in the province of Naples, Avellino and Benevento; it owes its characteristic name to the particular shape of the bunch that resembles the tail of a fox.

Aglianico

Thanks to the territory of volcanic origin, the favorable height and climate, Aglianico wine has managed to express its best over time, becoming the most important and widespread red vinegrape variety in the region. It gives us great red wines particularly suitable to aging. Used in the past as a blending wine, Aglianico is now vinified in purity, or almost, in all the most important wines of Campania.

Greco di tufo

Production areas of Greco di Tufo: entire territory of the municipalities of Tufo, Altavilla Irpina, Chianche, Montefusco, Prata di Principato Ultra, Petruro Irpino, Santa Paolina and Torrioni, in the province of Avellino.

The role of Irpinia in the history of viticulture in Campania was so important that the Avellino-Rocchetta Sant'Antonio railway line was given the name of "Wine railway".

The oldest grapevine in the Avellino area is undoubtedly the Greco di Tufo, from which the wine of the same name is obtained, imported from the Greek region of Thessaly by the Pelagi.

The confirmation of the millennial origin of this grapevine is given by the discovery in Pompeii of a fresco dated back to the 1st century B.C. where "Greek wine" is explicitly mentioned. The cultivation of the Greco grapevine was initially spread on the slopes of Vesuvius and later in other areas of the province of Avellino, where it took the name of Greco di Tufo.

Fiano di Avellino

Production area and history: entire territory of the municipalities Avellino, Lapio, Atripalda, Cesinali, Aiello del Sabato, S. Stefano del Sole, Sorbo Serpico, Salza Irpina, Parolise, S. Potito Ultra, Candida, Manocalzati, Pratola Serra, Montefredane, Grottolella, Capriglia Irpina, S. Angelo a Scala, Summonte, Mercogliano, Forino, Contrada, Monteforte Irpino, Ospedaletto D'Alpinolo, Montefalcione, Santa Lucia di Serino and San Michele di Serino, in the province of Avellino.

The role of Irpinia in the history of Campania viticulture was so important that the Avellino Rocchetta Sant'Antonio railway line was given the name of "Wine railway".

Fiano is the ancient Campanian grapevine that the Latins indicated with the name (Vitis Apiana) because of the sweetness of its grapes that attracted bees. Its ampelographic matrix leads it to Hellenic varieties of the Magna Graecia Age. The wine it produced was highly appreciated by Roman consuls and emperors and still today enjoys the reputation of being one of the best white wines in Italy, due to its structure and extraordinary finesse and even in Sicily it shows all its exuberance.
